Whose Island?

 

A lost episode of the iconic Gilligan’s Island told through clowning, character, coconuts, and cabriole. Whose Island is it anyway?

University of Colorado Colorado Springs Department of Theater and Dance invites ICONography Dance back to the Osborne Studio Theater Summer of 2016 to create another wild ride for the Colorado Spring’s audience. Through Dance, Physical Theater, and Theater ICONography Dance with Kirk Thomsen, Ross Flemming, Posy Knight, and Tiffany Tinsley Weeks will tell a rip-roaring tale of a happening on Gilligan’s Island presented by ICONography Dance and UCCSDTD.

Ila Conoley Paladino: Artistic Director, Choreo., Performer

ILA began her studies at the Dance Center of Colorado Springs and continued her training at the Alabama Dance Theatre. She earned her BA in Dance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her MFA in Dance from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Ila is a choreographer and teacher and has taught and been a guest artist at several institutions including Ormao Dance Company, Pikes Peak Community College, University of Texas El Paso, New Mexico State University, University of Kentucky, Savannah State University, and The Moving Collective, to name a few. Ila is a freelance artist and director/choreographer of ICONography Dance.

 

 

 

 

 

Kirk Thomsen: Physical Theater Direction, Performer

Kirk Thomsen has been an important part of the grassroots theatre scene in Milwaukee since the early 2000’s, when he completed the Actor Training Program at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. Kirk was a founding member and production manager for the Alchemist Theatre and The Milwaukee Quasimondo Physical Theatre, where he also devised, directed, and designed over 20 productions from 2009-2015. Kirk has collaborated with Milwaukee’s finest visual and performance artists at venues like the Skylight Music Theatre, Present Music, and Danceworks, and continues to teach physical theatre skills like juggling and clowning to all ages.

 

 

 

Ross Fleming: Production Design

Ross Fleming earned his MFA from Texas Tech University and is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso.  Ross is the Head of Design and the Technical Director pf the UTEP Theatre and Dance Department.  He has been working in theatre as a designer and technical director for over 15 years, and has designed and technical directed over 200 plays for educational, professional, and community theaters throughout the country.  Ross has worked with such companies as the Alley Theatre, Milwaukee Rep, and the Arizona Theatre Company.  Along with several regional awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for both design and technical direction, his proudest achievements are his students who are working all over the United States as Production Managers, Carpenters, Riggers and some that are following his footsteps in Educational Theatre as technical directors and designers. Aside from being involved with theatre, Ross enjoys hanging out and writing songs in West Texas.

Tiffany Tinsely Weeks: Production Manager and Performer

Tiffany was raised in Miami, Florida where she began her dance training in performing arts elementary and middle schools. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. While earning her BFA, she performed in choreography by Shapiro and Smith Dance, ODC/ San Francisco, Adele Myers, and Kelly Drummond Cawthon. She was a founding member of the Florida MOD Project and Physical Theater Productions, with whom she toured nationally as a featured performer. Tiffany was a lab dancer at Jacob’s Pillow in their collaboration with Tanglewood Music Center and later an apprentice for Shapiro and Smith Dance. She moved to Colorado Springs and began dancing with Ormao Dance Company in 2001, where she was Assistant Artistic Director. Her choreography has been nominated for the Peak Area Performer and Artists Award three times. Tiffany joined the Theatre and Dance faculty of University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2013, where she also choreographs for THEATREWORKS. She has taught at American College Dance Festival and been guest artist at Colorado College. A mother of two, her passion for collaboration inspires her dancing, teaching and choreography.

Posy Knight: Production Assistant, Performer

Posy Knight, MFA Scenic Design, 2014, University of Connecticut, BFA Dance, 2002, The Juilliard School. Ms. Knight explores life and community as a performer, choreographer, designer, director, scenic painter, and arts educator. She is the Director of Outreach for Danceworks Inc., famous for the Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap program, whose team of 45 talented teaching artists have educated more than 25,000 Milwaukee area 5th and 6th graders in tap and ballroom dance styles over the last 10 years. She is a proponent of Intergenerational Solutions in her community, leading visual arts and movement projects for the Intergenerational Multi-Arts Program (IMAP.) Upcoming projects include designing “Julius Ceasar” (Optimist Theatre in the Park, Milwaukee) and “aLL WroNg” a pub crawl theatre event presented by the Milwaukee Performance Cooperative in the spring of 2017.

Megan Aizpuro: Performer

Megan Aizpuro‘s recent move to the Mile High City has instilled in her a serious concern for her skins exposure to the harmful rays of the sun. Adding “Professional Dog Walker” to the existing “Freelance Dancer” on her resume instilled said concern and has thus made her that much more adulty. She can handle when people die in movies but when the dog or cat does she looses it. Her favorite food to spread on other food is peanut butter and if the world were her way it would operate as a musical and everyone would be able to hit the high note. This is her second year performing with ICONography Dance and she couldn’t be happier about it!

 

Madison Barker: Performer

Madison Barker is so excited to be part of her first performance with ICONography Dance!  Madison is a graduate of UCCS where she studied Theatre and Dance and where she is credited with directing the first UCCS Theatre Company dance production: To Love and Be Loved. Most recently she has been working with THEATREWORKS and performed as Wockle in their Spring 2016 production of Girl of the Golden West.  She is so thankful to her wonderful family for their endless love and support and to her loving fiancé who is her forever dance partner.

Laura Corral: Performer

Laura Corral was born and raised in far west Texas. She has her BFA in dance performance and has spent a year studying with the Limon institute in New York. She has had a blast performing works by several choreographers including Doris Humphy, Jose Limon, Martha Graham, Maxine Steinman, Ila Conoley and Erick Campos. Laura is a 200-hr certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. Aside from dancing whenever and where ever she can, Laura has been exploring acting, performance art and playing music with friends in El Paso, Texas.

Whitney Mugford: Performer
